An
outdoor demonstration is the most similar to a standard
balloon inflation, like what would be seen at a festival
or other balloon event.
The balloon is completely assembled,
and cold air from an inflation fan is pumped into the
envelope. Once the envelope is full, the pilot heats
the air with the burners mounted on the basket and the
balloon stands up and is ready to fly.
For the purposes of demonstration,
the balloon is secured to the ground by tether ropes,
and if the wind conditions are suitable, can be flown
to a height of approximately 50 feet. Although the "flight"
is short, passengers can be taken for a short ride.
